Forex Market Hours by Session
The foreign exchange market runs 24 hours a day, five days a week, split into four overlapping global sessions. Liquidity — and therefore tradable spreads — peaks during the London/New York overlap (13:00–17:00 UTC).

Pip Calculator
A pip calculator converts a price change in pips into a cash value based on your trade size and quote currency. For most pairs, one pip is the fourth decimal place (0.0001); for JPY pairs it's the second decimal (0.01).
Understanding the USD Index & Dollar Market
The USD index (DXY) is a weighted basket measuring the dollar against EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK and CHF. It's the single most-watched gauge of overall dollar market strength and a leading indicator for almost every other forex exchange rate. When DXY rises, expect downward pressure on EUR/USD, GBP/USD and most emerging-market pairs.
Reading Forex Quotes
Every foreign exchange rate is quoted as a pair: EURUSD = 1.0850 means one euro buys 1.0850 US dollars. The first currency (EUR) is the base, the second (USD) the quote. The bid/ask spread — the difference between the price a market-maker will buy and sell — is the implicit cost of execution. Retail brokers typically quote 0.6–1.5 pip spreads on EUR/USD during peak hours.
OANDA, XE, Factory Forex & Reference Rates
For accounting, audit and tax filings, the OANDA exchange rate historical feed is the most widely cited consumer-grade reference. XE currency publishes similar mid-market rates with deeper historical archives. Factory Forex (Forex Factory) is the dominant calendar for macroeconomic data releases — non-farm payrolls, CPI prints and central-bank decisions that move fx rates in seconds. Our rates here are sourced from comparable interbank feeds and are appropriate for budgeting, invoicing and travel.
